Sixth Intersessional Meeting on human rights and the 2030 Agenda – 18 January 2024

Date/Time: Thursday 18 January 2024, 10:00 – 18:00 CET

Venue: Room XX, Palais des Nations, Geneva

The 2024 Intersessional Meeting is the sixth of a series of intersessional meetings of the Human Rights Council on human rights and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Intersessional Meeting was mandated by Resolution A/HRC/RES/52/14 of April 2023.

The Intersessional Meeting will base its discussions on the theme of the 2024 July High-level Political Forum (HLPF): “Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: The effective delivery of sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions.”

This Intersessional Meeting will centre on exploring how leveraging the human rights framework can position the international financial, debt and tax architecture to proactively support, rather than impede, the realization of human rights and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Without prejudice to the integrated, indivisible, and interlinked nature of the SDGs, particular emphasis will be placed on three of the five SDGs that will be reviewed in-depth by the HLPF in July 2024: SDG 1 (no poverty), SDG 16 (peace, justice and strong institutions), and SDG 17 (partnerships for the Goals).
