Intersessional meeting on human rights and the 2030 Agenda (16 January 2019)
In March 2018, the Human Rights Council adopted resolution 37/24 on the promotion and protection of human rights and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In the resolution, the Council decided to organize two one-day intersessional meetings for dialogue and cooperation on human rights and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
This first meeting, which took place on 16 January 2019, focused on the theme of the 2019 session of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) ("Empowering people and ensuring inclusiveness and equality"), which will review global progress in achieving the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 4 (Quality education), SDG 8 (Decent work and economic growth), SDG 10 (Reduced inequalities), SDG 13 (Climate Change), SDG 16 (Peace, justice and strong institutions) and SDG 17 (Partnership for the goals).
The second intersessional meeting will take place in advance of the 2020 session of the High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development
