In June 2020, the Human Rights Council adopted resolution 43/19 on the promotion and protection of human rights and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The resolution called for three half-day intersessional meetings for dialogue and cooperation on human rights and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to be held in 2021, 2022 and 2023. The first two intersessional meetings were held in 2019 as called for in resolution 37/24.
The fourth intersessional meeting “Investing in sustainable recovery, advancing gender equality and strengthening partnerships – Towards a renewed social contract anchored in human rights” was held virtually on 18 January 2022. The meeting focused on SDG 5 ‘Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls’ and SDG 17 ‘Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development’.
