The Committee on Enforced Disappearances has started a process of consultations on its General Comment on “enforced disappearances in the context of migration”.

At its 22nd session (April 2022), the Committee adopted a concept note outlining the issue, objectives and possible scope of the General Comment.

The Committee invited all interested stakeholders, such as States parties, victims, civil society organizations, national human rights institutions, UN Human Rights Mechanisms, Regional Human Rights Mechanisms, UN country Teams, academia and others to submit written contributions by 20 June 2022.

The Committee is considering all received contributions for the elaboration of its Draft General Comment.
