At paragraph 15 of resolution 24/16, the Human Rights Council requested OHCHR, in consultation with States, national human rights institutions, civil society, relevant intergovernmental bodies and international organizations, and taking into account, inter alia, the outcome of the panel discussion held in September 2014 at the Council, to draft a study on the prevention of human rights violations and its practical implementation. The summary of the panel discussion was submitted to the Human Rights Council at its 28th session (A/HRC/28/30).
OHCHR requested input from States, national human rights institutions, civil society, relevant intergovernmental bodies and international organizations regarding the prevention of human rights violations and its practical implementation. Inputs received from stakeholders are available below. The full study was submitted at the 30th session of the Human Rights Council in 2015 (A/HRC/30/20).
This study seeks to provide further content to the concept of prevention of human rights violations, identify practical means through which to prevent violations, and highlight the role of international and regional stakeholders.
