Committee on the Rights of the Child

The eighteenth session of the Conference of the States parties to the Convention, and the elections of nine members of the Committee were held on 24 November 2020, through an in-person meeting at the United Nations General Assembly Hall in New York.

In accordance with article 43, the term of nine of the elected members expires on 28 February 2021. Thus, nine seats in the Committee must be filled through an election.

The current membership of the Committee consists of 10 women and 8 men, who come from the following regions: 3 from Latin America and the Caribbean; 7 from Africa; 3 from Asia-Pacific; 2 from Eastern Europe and 3 from Western Europe and other States.

Regarding the nine members whose term ends on 28 February 2021, 6 are women and 3 are men, who come from the following regions: 1 from Latin America and the Caribbean; 3 from Africa; 2 from Asia-Pacific; 2 from Eastern Europe and 1 from Western Europe and other States.
