Application processes and deadlines

APPLICATION PROCESS IS NOW CLOSED FOR ALL SEVEN MANDATES AND APPLICATIONS ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTED

For the following EMRIP mandates, the application process opened on 13 October 2016 and closed on 1 December 2016 (12 noon GMT):

- Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP), member from the Arctic
- Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP), member from Asia
- Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP), member from North America
- Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP), member from the Pacific

For the following special procedure mandates, the application process opened on 13 October 2016 and closed on 24 November 2016 (12 noon GMT):

- Special Rapporteur on the right to development
- Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association

Should the appointee to any of the mandates be a person with a disability, the United Nations would be obliged to ensure reasonable accommodation for the mandate holder in the implementation of his/her mandate. This may include provisions for the mandate holder to be accompanied during official travels by a personal assistant, and/or for additional conference services (such as sign language interpretation) in respect of meetings in which the mandate holder participates.
