Navi Pillay to visit Poland and pay respects at Auschwitz

GENEVA (11 October 2013) – The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay on Sunday begins a two-day visit to Poland, starting with commemorating the victims of the Holocaust and remembering the suffering of those who lost their lives at the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camps.
During her visit, Ms. Pillay is due to meet the Marshall of the Sejm, the Lower House of the Polish Parliament, the Minister of Justice, and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ombudsman's Office, the Constitutional Court and representatives from civil society organizations. She will also meet the Director of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights in the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
