Information and guidelines for independent monitoring mechanisms and National Human Rights Institutions

Civil society actors, independent monitoring mechanisms and National Human Rights Institutions have a key role to play in assisting the Committee to fulfil its mandate effectively.

Their participation in the Committee’s activities is essential to provide a comprehensive picture of the way States are implementing the rights and obligations enshrined in the Convention.

The Committee has adopted guidelines on these topics:

• Guidelines on the participation of disabled persons’ organizations and civil society organizations in the work of the Committee - Annex II to CRPD/C/11/22

• Guidelines on independent monitoring frameworks and their participation in the work of the Committee - Annex to the CRPD Rules of Procedure CRPD/C/1/Rev.1 (informed by these submissions on the Draft Guidelines)

• Guidance Note for States parties on constructive dialogue with human rights treaty bodies
