OHCHR has developed a training package on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and its Optional Protocol. The package consists of a Training Guide and eight training modules.

Both the training guide and modules help build the capacity of national stakeholders to implement the Convention and its Optional Protocol and to monitor implementation. They are a resource for anyone involved in strengthening the rights of persons with disabilities and holding States accountable in this regard including, policymakers, legislators and other State actors (at national as well as local levels), national human rights institutions and independent monitoring frameworks, civil society organisations including organisations of persons with disabilities, UN agencies, development actors, and donors.

The Training Guide and modules can be used together to develop training courses on the Convention and its Optional Protocol. They also serve as helpful resources to better understand the instruments and how they can be used to promote and protect the rights of persons with disabilities.

Training guide

The Training Guide on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities provides information on the human rights-based approach to disability and elaborates on the fundamental elements of the Convention and its Optional Protocol, and on the processes and issues underlying their ratification, implementation and monitoring.
