关于越南的新闻简报说明

我们对越南恢复死刑感到失望。该国于8月6日在河内对一名27岁男子执行注射死刑。据报道，上一次执行大约发生在18个月以前，这种恢复是越南人权纪录中的一次重大挫折。

上个月，人权事务高级专员致函越南总理，指出越南仍然对一些不足以构成“最严重犯罪”的罪行保留死刑，并主张废除死刑。

我们敦促该国政府停止更多的执行，并加入越来越多已经暂停执行死刑的会员国，或与亚太地区19个国家在内的其他国家一同完全取消这种做法。

回顾就此主题开展透明和有效的公开辩论的重要性，以确保公众能够获得平衡、准确的信息，我们还呼吁该国政府解除将使用死刑的数据作为国家机密。
