背景
The Mixtecan languages (in their many variants) were estimated to be spoken by about 300,000 people at the end of the 20th century, although the majority of Mixtec speakers also had at least a working knowledge of the Spanish language. Mixtec is an Oto-Manguean language of Mexico. Actually, depending on the linguist doing the counting, there are somewhere between 12 and 60 different Mixtec languages, each of which is difficult for speakers of the others to understand.
