背景

Macedonian is an Indo-European language. It belongs to the South Slavic group of languages and is spoken by 2,5 million people (since many Macedonians live abroad) all around the world (over 1.64 million in the Republic of Macedonia, in accordance to the last census in 2002). Cyrillic script is used. It was one of the official languages in former Yugoslavia. Modern Macedonian: has a definite article that comes after the noun. The spelling of Macedonian is phonetically based: almost every word is written exactly as it is pronounced, and every letter of a word is pronounced.
