背景

Spoken in the Cross River State in South Eastern Nigeria, Niger-Congo, Atlantic-Congo, Cross River, Delta Cross, Lower Cros, East. It is a major dialect and literary language of the Ibibio-Efik group. It is used in radio, television, adult, primary, and secondary education, university courses, and in mother tongue authored literature, dictionary and grammar. It uses Latin script and belongs to the Benue-Congo family. There are nearly four million speakers in southeastern Nigeria and 10,000 speakers in Cameroon.
