背景

It belongs to the Benue-Congo family, Atlantic group, Gur subgroup and is spoken by 120,000 people. To a large extent it is intelligible with the Tamberma language of Togo. 'Somba' is an ethnic name applied to several related dialect groups, mainly to the Ditammari.
