背景

Like the other languages of Indonesia, Bugisnese is of the Austronesian (Malayo-Polynesian) family. The language has over 3 million people, chiefly in Sulawesi. Both Latin and Bugisnese scripts are used. The Bugisnese alphabet is believed to have had its origin in Java.
