背景
It belongs to the Benue-Congo family, Bantu group, and has over 2.5 million speakers, mainly in Cameroon, including Fang, Ewondo, and Bulu. In fact, Béti consists of a "set of 'languages' also comprising Bebele, Bebil, Eton, and Mengisa, which are partially intelligible but ethnically distinct. It is different from Bette-Bende of Nigeria or the Bété languages of Côte d'Ivoire. It is a trade language.
