背景
Aymara (with the stress on the final syllable) belongs to the Andean Equatorial subgroup of the Central South American Indian (Aymaran) family of languages and is the second of the major Indian languages of western South America. Together with Quechua, it constitutes a single subfamily of the Andean Equatorial family of languages. It is spoken by over 2 million people, chiefly in Bolivia, where churches are active in literacy and there have been openings in government schools for the use of Aymara literature.
