At its thirtieth session in April 2019, the United Nations Committee on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families (the Committee) established a working group on the Convention and the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration. At its inter-sessional meeting of 12 November 2020, the Committee decided to elaborate a new general comment (No. 6) on the convergence of the Convention and the Global Compact.

The Committee calls on all stakeholders (States parties to the Convention, other Member States, United Nations specialized agencies and other bodies, national human rights institutions, non-governmental organizations, the academia, etc.) to provide comments on the concept paper and the draft outline of general comment No. 6 to provide guidance to the Committee for the development of its general comment.
