The 14th session of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples took place from 12-16 July 2021.

Given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the session was virtual and involved:

  • An official opening and closing
  • Four regional meetings with the purpose of receiving oral comments on EMRIP’s draft reports:
    • Draft report on achieving the ends of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, with a focus on self-determination
      Read the draft report (A/HRC/EMRIP/2021/2)
    • Draft study and advice on the Rights of the Indigenous Child under the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples
      Read the draft study (A/HRC/EMRIP/2021/3)
  • EMRIP country engagement
  • Meeting with the treaty bodies

Interpretation was provided in the languages stated in the agenda for each meeting.
