Update as of 29 November:

Due to a new virus variant, the Federal Office of Public Health of Switzerland compiled the list of countries with a variant of concern. Participants planning to travel to Switzerland for the Forum are urged to check the list and entry rules to Switzerland accordingly. Since the epidemiological situation is constantly changing, the list is updated accordingly as needed.

Due to the worsening epidemiological situation in Switzerland and beyond and in line with the "Information note for the participants", the OHCHR would like to reiterate that the number of participants in Room XX will be limited to 1 person per delegation at a time.

For online participation, given the limitations of the Zoom license in place, the number of accredited participants per delegation with access to the Zoom platform will also be limited to 1 person at a time.

The Secretariat of the Forum invites all those unable to join the Forum physically or via Zoom to follow the livestream.

The Fourteenth session of the Forum on Minority Issues is convened on 2 and 3 December 2021 pursuant to Human Rights Council resolution 6/15 of 28 September 2007 and resolution 19/23 of 23 March 2012.

The theme of the Forum is "Conflict Prevention and the Protection of the Human Rights of Minorities". The Forum shall analyse practices, challenges, opportunities and initiatives in addressing conflict prevention and the protection of the human rights of minorities, in line with the principles and rights enshrined in the UN Declaration on the Rights of Persons Belonging to National or Ethnic, Religious and Linguistic Minorities and other relevant international instruments.

The Forum on Minority Issues meets annually for two working days allocated to thematic discussions. The Special Rapporteur on minority issues guides the work of the Forum, prepares its annual meetings and reports on the thematic recommendations of the Forum to the Human Rights Council. The recommendations of the Fourteenth session will be presented at the 49th session of the Human Rights Council, in March 2022.

This year the Chairperson of the Forum is Dr. Victoria Donda.

Important information on registration: Participants are encouraged to register as soon as possible as the number of available seats in Room XX and on Zoom is limited. Should the number of registered participants reach the maximum before 22 November, registration will be closed earlier. One person per delegation will be accredited. Accredited participants will receive additional details on the Forum through the email used during their registration.
