Cooperation with regional mechanisms
Committee on Enforced Disappearances
In compliance with article 28 of the International Convention for the Protection of all Persons against Enforced Disappearances “the Committee shall cooperate with all relevant organs, offices and specialized agencies and funds of the United Nations, with the treaty bodies instituted by international instruments, with the special procedures of the United Nations and with the relevant regional intergovernmental organizations or bodies, as well as with all relevant State institutions, agencies or offices working towards the protection of all persons against enforced disappearances”.
The Committee considers of utmost priority to strengthen and systematize its cooperation and coordination with regional mechanisms through ongoing efforts and joint projects and actions.

- On 16 December 2021, the Committee on Enforced Disappearances and the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) signed a roadmap to strengthen and systematise their coordination and cooperation against enforced disappearances.

- African Commission on Human and People’s Rights' (ACHPR)
- The Committee has participated in the discussion of the Draft Guidelines on the Protection of all Persons from Enforced Disappearances in Africa that were adopted on the occasion of a workshop held on 5 - 6 November 2021 in The Gambia. The Guidelines is now going through the next steps of the discussion and approbation process within the ACHPR.
