Committee reviewed the reports of Slovenia, Kuwait, Ghana, Turkmenistan, Finland, Mauritius, Monaco and Ireland

The Committee against Torture concluded the work of its forty-sixth session, during which it reviewed the reports of Slovenia, Kuwait, Ghana, Turkmenistan, Finland, Mauritius, Monaco and Ireland.

The Committee's comments on the reports reviewed will be made public Monday, June 6 when the full text of the concluding observations will be available on the website of the session, at the following address: http://www2.ohchr.org/english/bodies/cat/cats46.htm.

During the session, the Committee also held a meeting with States parties and with the Sub-Committee for the Prevention of Torture. The Committee also met with non-governmental organizations that submitted testimony on the situation in countries whose reports were under consideration this session.

The Committee also focused its attention on monitoring of the concluding observations made by the Committee on States parties, who are required to provide updates on actions taken to implement the recommendations (the documentation relating to this procedure is available on the Committee's web page). The Committee also held a meeting on the monitoring of individual communications under article 22 of the Convention, under which any State Party may at any time declare that it recognizes the competence of the Committee to receive and consider communications by or on behalf of individuals subject to its jurisdiction who claim to be victims of a violation by a State Party of the provisions of the Convention.

At its forty-seventh session, to be held in Geneva from October 31 to November 25, 2011, the Committee plans to examine reports of the following countries: Bulgaria, Denmark, Djibouti, Greece, Madagascar, Morocco, Paraguay, Sri Lanka and Tunisia.
