Background

Human Rights Council resolution 48/2 on “Equal participation in political and public affairs” requested the High Commissioner for Human Rights to organize, before the fifty-fourth session of the Council, a one-day intersessional workshop to discuss challenges, good practices and experiences in implementing the right to participate in public affairs, notably in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and the post-pandemic recovery, including the role of participation in securing public health, and to prepare and present a summary report for the fifty-fourth session of the Council.

Intersessional workshop

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights invites all stakeholders to participate in the intersessional workshop, which will take place on 31 May 2023, 10:00 -13:00 and 15:00-18:00 in Geneva at Palais des Nation, Room XIX.

In order to ensure the broadest participation of stakeholders, the workshop will be held in a hybrid format.

The event will have accessibility and interpretation services in all UN official languages.

The workshop will be broadcasted live on UN Web TV.
