Human Rights Education and Training

This section includes national action plans/strategies for human rights education elaborated by Member States since 1995, in the framework of the United Nations Decade for Human Rights Education (1995-2004) or of the World Programme for Human Rights Education (2005-ongoing). Those plans/strategies may be stand-alone efforts or parts of overall national action plans for human rights. They may focus on a specific sector (such as the school system) or on a broad range of audiences (professionals, vulnerable groups, the general public etc.).

To assist and support these efforts, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has developed specific tools, i.e. Guidelines for National Plans of Action for Human Rights Education and a Handbook on National Human Rights Plans of Action.
