Accreditation to attend treaty body sessions

Registration

All observers, including non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and national human rights institutions (NHRIs), wishing to attend any sessions of the Committees are required to be duly registered.

Participants wishing to register to attend sessions or pre-sessional working groups of any Committees must do so through the unique online platform for accreditation (the link will be available on the web page of the session you wish to attend). Kindly allow two working days for your request to be processed.

In order to get your badge, please bring the confirmation of registration together with a valid passport or ID bearing a photograph, to the United Nations Pass and Identification Unit, Prégny Gate or the Palais Wilson, depending on the venue of a given session and following the instructions provided on each committee webpage in this regard.

These offices are open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.

Venue

Although most sessions of the Committees take place at the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Palais Wilson, some of the Committees, such as the CEDAW, hold their sessions in the Palais des Nations. In addition, some of the Committees which hold their sessions at the Palais Wilson may hold one or more of their meetings during a session at the Palais des Nations for capacity reasons. Please check the venue under the relevant session number of the webpage of the respective Committees.

Additional Information

All participants are responsible for making their own arrangements relating to travel and accommodations as well as visas to enter Switzerland. OHCHR does not provide assistance in this regard and is not in a position to provide letters to the authorities of Switzerland for purposes of obtaining visas for observers.

This may include the reports of States parties to be considered, the provisional agenda and programme of work, the accreditation link, and other documents pertaining to the session, including detailed information on how NGOs, NHRIs and others can participate.
