Acceded to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on 11 December 1992
Ratified the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflict on 30 November 2005
Ratified the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography on 16 August 2005

- We shall encourage non-institutional and community-based care of children in need of care and protection and work towards providing a safe neighbourhood to children.
