UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet has released a report calling on Member States to adopt a “transformative agenda” to uproot systemic racism.

The Agenda for transformative change towards racial justice and equality, casts a spotlight on a litany of violations of economic, cultural, civil and political rights suffered by Africans and people of African descent – on a daily basis and across different countries and jurisdictions.

“The status quo is untenable,” High Commissioner Bachelet said in a press release issued Monday. “Systemic racism needs a systemic response. We need a transformative approach that tackles the interconnected areas that drive racism, and lead to repeated, wholly avoidable, tragedies like the death of George Floyd.”
