United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Louise Arbour today conveyed her deep sympathy to the families of all those killed in Andijan, Uzbekistan, a year ago. The consequences of these tragic events continue to be widely felt, she said.
“One year after the killings, no internationally accepted account of the events has been established,” said the High Commissioner. She expressed the hope that Uzbekistan will still take advantage of the offers for assistance made by the international community, including the United Nations.
