The 58th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) will take place at United Nations Headquarters in New York from 10 to 21 March 2014. This year the session will focus on "challenges and achievements in the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals for women and girls." 

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the mandate of Special Rapporteur on violence against women, its causes and consequences, by Commission on Human Rights resolution 1994/45 (link to resolution), the current and third Special Rapporteur, Ms. Rashida Manjoo, will brief the Commission on the Status of Women on developments in combatting all forms of violence against women over the last two decades and further areas in need of attention.  She will also brief the Commission on her activities in the last year.  The Special Rapporteur will convene the following side event:
