The Working Group on Contemporary Forms of Slavery no longer exists, and its successor is the mandate on contemporary forms of slavery, its causes and consequences, established in 2007 by Human Rights Council Resolution 6/14.

The last session of the Working Group on Contemporary Forms of Slavery was held from 8 to 11 August 2006 in the Palais des Nations in Geneva. In addition to its usual work on the review of contemporary forms of slavery throughout the world, the Working Group also focused on the implementation of Human rights Council decision 2006/102. In this decision, the Council decided, inter alia, that the working Groups of the Sub-Commission shall contribute to the paper the Sub-Commission has to prepare on its own vision and recommendations for future expert advice to the Council.
