Gender Stereotyping and the Judiciary: A Workshop Guide

Published

01 October 2020

Focus

Sexual orientation and gender identity

The Workshop Guide provides guidance on organizing and holding training courses to raise awareness among judges at the national or regional level about the role of the judiciary in addressing wrongful gender stereotyping. The publication includes a suggested programme and methodology, as well as a detailed outline for several sessions with presentation slides, notes and exercises that may be adapted to different contexts and needs. The publication, which draws on several studies conducted by OHCHR, focuses on gender stereotyping in cases related to sexual and reproductive health and rights and gender-based violence.

Accompanying training sessions have been developed for use in training courses or as a general information resource on eliminating judicial gender stereotyping.
