Expert workshop on the right to privacy in the digital age, 19-20 February 2018
OHCHR and privacy in the digital age
Background
Following Human Rights Council HRC Resolution 34/7 adopted on 23 March 2017, (A/HRC/RES/34/7), the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights organised an expert workshop with the purpose of identifying and clarifying the principles, standards and best practices regarding the promotion and protection of the right to privacy in the digital age, including the responsibility of business enterprises.
This workshop took place from 19 February (whole day) to 20 February (half day) 2018 in Geneva (Palais Wilson, ground floor conference room).
The objective of the workshop was the exchange of international, regional and national experiences and practices concerning the protection and promotion of the right to privacy in the digital age.
Following the workshop, OHCHR prepared and published a report on the right to privacy in the digital age, taking into account these discussions, as requested by the Human Rights Council in its resolution 34/7.
