UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances publishes findings on Bolivia and Slovakia

GENEVA (14 October 2019) — The UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances (CED) has published its findings on Bolivia and Slovakia, which it examined during the Committee's latest session from 30 September to 11 October 2019 in Geneva.

The findings contain positive aspects of how the respective States are implementing the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance, highlight matters of concern and make recommendations.

The reports are now available on-line on the Web page for the session.

The next session of the Committee on Enforced Disappearances is scheduled to take place from 30 March to 9 April 2020. More information will be available soon on the webpage for the upcoming session.

Background

The Committee on Enforced Disappearances monitors States parties' adherence to the Convention for the Protection of all Persons from Enforced Disappearance. The Committee is made up of 10 members who are independent human rights experts drawn from around the world, who serve in their personal capacity and not as representatives of States parties. The Committee's concluding observations are an independent assessment of States' compliance with their human rights obligations under the treaty.
