UN Human Rights Chief to visit Mexico, 5-7 October

GENEVA / MEXICO CITY (2 October 2015) – UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein on Monday begins a three-day visit to Mexico.

During his visit, High Commissioner Zeid will meet the President as well as a number of top officials, including the the President of the Supreme Court of Justice, the President of the Senate, the Minister of the Interior, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of National Defence, the Minister for the Navy, the Attorney General, the National Security Commissioner and the President of the National Conference of Governors.

He will also hold discussions with the President of the National Commissioner for Human Rights, members of civil society, victims of human rights violations, the UN country team and members of the international community.

At the end of his visit, the High Commissioner will hold a press conference at 16:30 on Wednesday 7 October (exact location to be confirmed).
