GENEVA (20 March 2014) – The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay will tomorrow open a panel discussion on the mobilization of political will to combat racism and racial discrimination to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
The panel on The Role of Leaders in Mobilizing Political Will for Combatting Racism and Racial Discrimination will include Mr. Ahmed Kathrada, a South African anti-apartheid leader who spent 26 years in jail with Nelson Mandela; the Honourable Mrs. Emine Bozkurt, Member of the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, and Justice and Home Affairs; and Mr. Anant Singh, producer of the movie Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom and other South African anti-apartheid films.
The movie, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom will be shown at the Palais des Nations in Room XIV tonight, Thursday, 20 March 2014 at 18h15.
The panel will be held tomorrow, Friday, 21 March 2014, from 13h15 to 14h45 in Room XII, Palais des Nations.
