SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR ON RELIGIOUS INTOLERANCE TO VISIT VIET NAM

The Special Rapporteur of the Commission on Human Rights on religious intolerance, Abdelfattah Amor (Tunisia), will visit Viet Nam from 19 to 28 October 1998.

During the visit, taking place at the invitation of the Government, the Special Rapporteur will go to Hanoi, Hue, Ho Chi Minh City, Thay-Ninh and other relevant places.

The Special Rapporteur will meet with members of the Government, officials of relevant organs, religious figures, representatives of different religious communities and persons who may wish to speak to him in their personal capacity. Mr. Amor will also visit religious sites and institutions.

During the visit, the Special Rapporteur will be accompanied by personnel from the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and United Nations interpreters.
