SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR ON HUMAN RIGHTS SITUATION IN DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO

The Special Rapporteur of the Commission on Human Rights on human rights situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Antoanella-Iulia Motoc, will visit that country from 26 August to 6 September 2003.
Over the course of her visit, Ms. Motoc is scheduled to visit Kinshasa, Bunia (in Ituri) and Bukavu (South Kivu). She will have a series of meetings with the country’s highest authorities, particularly the Head of State, President Joseph Kabila; the President of the National Assembly, Mr. Olivier Kamitatu; the President of the Senate, Mr. Pierre Marini Bodho; the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Ghonda Mangalibi; the Minister of Justice, Mr. Kisimba Ngoy; and the Minister for Human Rights, Ms. Madeleine Kalala.
The Special Rapporteur will also meet with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General in charge of the United Nations Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUC), the representatives of agencies of the UN system, the diplomatic corps and members of civil society.
