SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR ON ADVERSE EFFECTS OF TOXIC AND DANGEROUS PRODUCTS VISITS SOUTH AMERICA

The Special Rapporteur on the adverse effects of the illicit movement and dumping of toxic and dangerous products and wastes on the enjoyment of human rights, Mrs. Fatma-Zohra Ouhachi-Ksentini, has embarked on a tour of South America which will end on 28 June 1998.

Mrs. Ouhachi-Ksentini's tour, which started on 13 June, comes within carrying out her mandate established by resolutions 1995/81 and 1998/12 of the Commission on Human Rights. She is visiting Paraguay and Brazil at the invitation of their respective Governments and is holding consultations on problems they are facing in this field.
