Kofi Annan to Address the Commission on Human Rights on 7 April


United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan will arrive on Tuesday, 6 April, in Geneva where he will chair the spring session of the Administrative Committee on Coordination (ACC).

The Secretary-General will remain in Switzerland until Sunday, 11 April, when he will fly to Madrid to pay an official visit to Spain.

On Wednesday, 7 April at noon, the Secretary-General will address the fifty-fifth session of the Commission on Human Rights and later on will attend a working lunch hosted by the High Commissioner for Human Rights which will also be attended by the Bureau of the Commission. In the afternoon, the Secretary-General will address the twenty-sixth meeting of the Chairmen and Coordinators of the Group of 77 under the chairmanship of Ambassador Samuel R. Insanally (Guyana). He will also have a number of bilateral meetings, including one with his Special Envoy for Afghanistan, Lakhdar Brahimi.

In the evening, the Secretary-General and Mrs. Nane Annan will be the guests of honour at the gala dinner organized by the Geneva United Nations Correspondents Association on its fiftieth anniversary.

On 9 and 10 April, the Secretary-General will chair the spring session of the ACC hosted this year by the World Meteorological Organization. On 9 April, the President of Switzerland, Mrs. Ruth Dreifuss will offer a dinner in honour of the Secretary-General and the ACC members at Mont Pelerin, near Montreux. On 10 April, the ACC will have a retreat at Mont Pelerin.
