PERSONAL REPRESENTATIVE HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS ON CUBA WELCOMES LIBERATION OF 11 PERSONS

The Personal Representative of the High Commissioner for Human Rights charged with the situation of human rights in Cuba, Christine Chanet, notes with satisfaction the liberation to date of 11 persons, including seven of the 75 persons arrested in Cuba during March and April 2003.
She is pursuing her requests for a dialogue with the Cuban authorities in order to permit the execution of her mandate, in the context of resolutions 2002/18, 2003/13 and 2004/11 of the Commission on Human Rights.
