Katmandu, 19 August 2005- An OHCHR investigation into two attacks on public transportation in Chitwan and Kabhrepalanchok, Nepal, has found CPN (Maoists) primarily responsible for both attacks. Releasing the report on the investigation of the attack, Ian Martin, head of the OHCHR office in Nepal, deplored the loss of life and injury in both attacks that left dozens of people killed.
The office also released a report on the investigation into the Killing of civilians in Banbehda and condemned the violent abduction, abuse and murder of three women, two men and a one-year-old child.
Martin said the office was unable to reach a conclusion as to the identity of the perpetrators, but noted that the acts suggest a level of premeditation and organization.
