HUMAN RIGHTS DAY EXHIBIT TO OPEN AT THE PALAIS DES NATIONS

To mark Human Rights Day 2005, Mehr Khan Williams, Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights will open a commemorative exhibit on Wednesday 7 December 2005 at 18:30 at Passerelle (corridor between the old and new buildings), Palais des Nations.

One of the recognized means to help heal and empower victims of torture and enable them to recover their dignity is through art therapy. The exhibit, which includes various works of art created by survivors of torture, will be on display until 30 December 2005.

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) helps protect and promote all human rights around the world. Headquartered in Geneva, the Office is also present in over 40 countries. OHCHR works to ensure the enforcement of universally recognized human rights norms, including through promoting both the universal ratification and implementation of human rights treaties and respect for the rule of law.
