HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS TO VISIT SOUTH AFRICA, BOTSWANA

High Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson is to travel to South Africa this evening to participate in the Second Conference of African National Institutions for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights. The High Commissioner will be one of the keynote speakers at the opening of the Conference, which will run from 1 to 3 July in Durban.
From South Africa the High Commissioner will travel on 2 July to Botswana for a two-day visit. On 3 July Mrs. Robinson is scheduled to meet with senior Government officials and with officials of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). The following day she will meet with representatives of civil society organizations. She will leave Gaborone on Saturday, 4 July.
