United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Louise Arbour will visit Afghanistan from 15 to 21 November 2007.
In Kabul and outside the capital city, the High Commissioner is set to meet, among others, senior Government officials and representatives of the judiciary and the parliament, members of the United Nations family and representatives of the international armed forces operating in the country. The High Commissioner will also meet with representatives of civil society and victims of human rights violations, as well as with the Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission. She will hold talks with President Hamid Karzai near the end of her visit and address the media at a news conference on 20 November in Kabul.
This is Ms. Arbour’s second visit to Afghanistan as High Commissioner. __________
