The Special Representative on the human rights situation in Equatorial Guinea of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights, Gustavo Gallón, will be travelling to Spain in November to meet with political refugees from Equatorial Guinea as well as with representatives of relevant non-governmental organizations and associations which work in the African State.

Mr. Gallón plans to collect information on the recent human rights developments in Equatorial Guinea and will subsequently report to the fifty-seventh session of the Commission, in accordance with resolution 2000/19.

Mr. Gallón has repeatedly requested the authorization to visit Equatorial Guinea, but has received no reply from the Government. There are continued reports of human rights violations in the country. The Special Representative will endeavour to gather information about the implementation of the recommendations made in his first report.
