ACTING RIGHTS CHIEF CONDEMNS BOMBING OF ICRC HEADQUARTERS

The following statement was issued today by acting United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Bertrand Ramcharan:

We in the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) wish to express our heartfelt solidarity and deepest sympathy to the International Committee of the Red Cross following the terrorist bombing today of the Committee’s headquarters in Baghdad. The United Nations and OHCHR know only too well the horror of such heinous crimes. I condemn this attack in the strongest possible terms.

My colleagues and I convey our condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives while carrying out their invaluable humanitarian mission.
