UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to visit Georgia, 25-28 February

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Louise Arbour will make a three-day visit to Georgia, starting next Monday 25 February. She will arrive back in Geneva early on Thursday.

During her visit, she is scheduled to hold talks with a range of senior government figures, as well as with the Public Defender (or Ombudsman), senior judicial figures, and various representatives of civil society.

The High Commissioner will also take the opportunity to see first hand the work carried out by the international Human Rights Adviser within the United Nations Country Team in Georgia, and will pay a visit to the human rights component of the UN Observer Mission in Georgia, (UNOMIG).

A press conference is scheduled for 20:00 hrs on Wednesday 27 February in the Courtyard Marriot Hotel in Tbilisi.
