Colombia - UN human rights expert Antonia Urrejola to conduct second official visit

GENEVA/BOGOTA (20 November 2023) – Antonia Urrejola, the international human rights expert appointed to identify and verify the obstacles to the implementation of the 2016 Peace Agreement, will visit Colombia from 20 to 28 November. This will be her second visit since she was appointed on 26 July by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, following a request from the UN Human Rights Council.

During her visit, Urrejola will meet high-level Government officials and other authorities. She will also hold meetings with representatives of civil society organisations, former combatants in the process of reintegration, parliamentarians, academics, UN entities, as well as with the diplomatic community.

The expert will present preliminary findings in December 2023 and her report to the Human Rights Council in March 2024.
