UN Human Rights Chief Volker Türk to conduct official visit to Chad

GENEVA (21 July 2023) – UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk will conduct a two-day official mission to Chad from 24 to 26 July. This will be the first-ever visit to Chad by a UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

During his visit, the High Commissioner will meet with senior Government officials. He will also meet with the President of the National Human Rights Commission, the President of the Bar Association, representatives of political parties and civil society, as well as diplomats and United Nations colleagues.

At the end of his mission, on 26 July, the High Commissioner will issue a statement and hold a press conference in N’Djamena at 16:00 local time. Access will be strictly limited to accredited media.
